The Parents’ Association supports the family-life balance of our members by offering services like Childminding, Afternoon Activities, School Buses and Holiday Camps via our subsidiary EuroKids gGmbH. We represent the voice of all ESF Parents in a variety of committees and support the school on everything that happens outside the classroom and contributes to the school community.

In March and April we have received requests from two students from the Brussels II school - one girl and one boy - who are looking for host families for their stay in Frankfurt September - December 2017. The boy will attend S5FR, the girl will attend S5IT. In May we have received three more requests from a boy and two girls from the Parma European school who will all attend S5IT. Please have a look at their profiles here - accessible to logged-in members only - and consider allowing them into your families to profit from this unique opportunity.
If you are not a member of the Parents' Association, but a parent of an ESF student, you can contact email@example.com and request the students' motivation letters.

On Wednesday 29th of March, the UK invoked article 50 of the EU Treaty, formally signalling its intention to leave the EU. What does this mean for the European Schools? How does it affect you? What can we do, as parents?
To start with, exit of the UK from the schools is not automatic: the Schools Convention is separate from the EU Treaty. It could be to everyone’s advantage if the UK decides not to leave the schools as well as the EU. Nonetheless, it is not yet clear whether this is legally possible. If the UK does decide to leave, the terms of exit are a mere full school year from notification of intention to withdraw from the Convention. Therefore, can we really be sure that the UK will still be in the Convention on 1 September 2018, the start of the school year in which the UK is due to leave the EU? Given all this uncertainty, INTERPARENTS is continuing to urge that risk assessment and contingency planning be done now, pending the beginning of talks. Consider the following ramifications…

Dropping off our kids at school: An Interview with Mr. Heinz Fischböck, Deputy Head of Primary and Pre-Primary Cycle
by Mariella Spata
Mariella: How does the kiss & fly drop-off procedure work in our school?
H. Fischböck: It works better than we have expected; although the number of pupils has grown substantially over the years, I do not think that dangerous situations have increased. So far we have not had accidents this year; we had several accidents in the past where cars were damaged and a father once drove over the foot of somebody working for the school, but nothing serious happened. Accident data is recorded by the security men. Overall the kiss & fly procedure works fine and this is mainly for two reasons. Firstly, security men stand there and monitor traffic (they wear a yellow vest and I think most parents know them); and secondly, the bus system [run by PA] has brought down the number of cars. I think there are almost 150 children enrolled in the school buses [in fact there are 210 children in the morning] and that helps a lot.
