The Primary Library offers contemporary and classic storybooks, narratives and nonfiction books for your children. The books are written in the four languages German, English, French and Italian as well as in all mother tongue languages. The publications available in the ESF libraries can be browsed in the online catalogue. Highlights are readings, drama and poem workshops of authors, actors and illustrators, which are offered for preprimary children and all classes of the four language sections.
Stephanie von Selchow is the librarian. In the Board of the Parents' Association, the Primary and Secondary library are represented by Samantha Malmberg.
The Primary Library is located on the second floor of the Primary building.
Opening Hours: The library is open from Monday through Thursday 8:30am to 1pm. During this time, all classes of the Primary sections as well as L2 groups accompanied by their teachers are borrowing books every two weeks. Thursday is Mother Tongue Day.
Apart from good books, a library thrives on many details, as there is much to be done – ranging from the binding of new books to book lending and return and the organization of readings! That is the reason why we are so grateful for all the mothers who are supporting us! And we will be grateful for everybody who will help! Whoever wants and has time available, is most welcome to contact Stephanie von Selchow.
The quality of the artist is that what matters. The guest books, which can be viewed in the library, meanwhile show an impressive number of them, including Paul Maar, Kirsten Boie and Anthony Horowitz. Upcoming readings/ workshops will be announced periodically.

PA continues to work on solutions, but we need the contribution of volunteering members. If you are interested in exploring, developing and setting-up collective solutions, please join us and make it happen!
U-Bahn + Shuttle
The nearest U-Bahn (subway) station, Nordwestzentrum, is at a 10 minutes walking distance from the ESF and the U-Bahn is therefore underused although it is more cost-effective and environmentally friendly than individual cars. An idea to be explored would consist in bridging the gap between an U-Bahn station close to the school and the ESF with a shuttle with rotations between 07.50 and 08.25 in the morning and 15.00 and 17.00 in the afternoon. Although it seems straight forward, many aspects have to be taken care of and organized, such as setting-up a safe environment at the U-Bahn station where students can wait for the bus. The stations Heddernheimer Landstrasse and Niedersursel offer large dead-end street areas which seem appropriate.
Organizing collective transport of the youngest and their collection in the U-Bahn, from and to the city-center (ECB ?) would involve caretakers. The current Bus line A seems to be the more viable alternative for young children. Also, we would need to get subsidies to reduce the costs associated to the shuttle as offers from bus companies for such small connections are nearly as expensive as driving through the city.
Additional bus routes
More bus routes will be needed. The PA collected many offers and details from various companies and will support the creation of any new route as soon as enough ESF parents express the need for it. PA is therefore seeking volunteers or Points of Contact (PoC) to look into such potential routes and gather the interest.
Share the contact details
It is very frustrating especially for newcomers not to be able to contact other ESF parents in their neighborhood to organize car sharing etc, although our car sharing tool makes this a lot easier already. Some other international school publish a phonebook with all parents details to all parents, with the exception of those who preferred not to disclose their contact details. This is something which could be investigated for the ESF. Here again, volunteers to look into the technical and legal aspects are needed.
A U-Bahn station at the ESF
There are long term plans to extend the U-Bahn line in the Nordwest-Zentrum and create a station at the ESF. However, knowing how fast "long term" plans are implemented, it is unlikely that any of us will see things happen. Any enthusiastic volunteering parents will be warmly welcome to investigate further the if, how and when of these plans. An important aspect is also the side effect it may have onto the access to school during the construction period.

The Library for the Secondary sections is run by the school itself, according to the rules of the European School system. However, the Parents' Association supports the Secondary Library, financially as well as with resources. Recently the Secondary Library has opened its own web site which will have a great future if students and parents contribute!

A number of taxi companies with claimed experience in driving children to school (ESF or others) offer door-to-door services. They operate regular car or minivan transporting up to 8 children.
We are listing hereafter the contact details of some of them. The contract is set between the companies and the parents directly.
The pricing largely depend on the distance to school and commitments for a semester or a year are the usual rules. Small discount for siblings are foreseen as well as extra late/early services
If you have experience with some of these companies and want to share a positive/negative feedback with the other parents, please contact the webmaster, we will include it on this page.
This list is clearly not exhaustive and if you have experience with or know of other companies, please kindly drop a message to the webmaster, we will update it.
Attention ! The zones slightly differ from companies to companies, therefore the comparison is really indicative. Please refer to the offers for full details.
KleinBus Reich are offering diverse options for passenger transport in the Frankfurt and Hochtaunus area.
