The parking conditions and access to school have deteriorated in the past period. It appears clearly now that taking private individual cars to drive the kids to school is not a sustainable solution, especially with the school population increasing by 3 to 4%/year and with the construction work foreseen in the coming years (PA building and school extension).

Keeping this in mind, the PA continued working on the establishment of other solutions to promote and organize collective transportations to and from school. In this respect, the association managed to set up a school bus service running to the ESF in the mornings. The first line is being operated since September 2011. For more information on line A, please click here.

Initially, the PA designed three other bus routes available for parents. Line B goes from the Taunus region to the ESF, Line C was a line along various subway stations and Line D (the so called “Ginnheim-Express”) was designed to cover the East of Frankfurt. However, these lines did not reach the critical mass and could not be started in September 2011. The PA will try to establish other lines in the next months to extend the school bus service to other areas as well.

Apart from the school bus service, the PA encourages parents to use other alternatives. The association set up an online car-sharing-tool for those who are interested in organising car-pooling arrangements with other families. Another alternative would be the use of door-to-door services offered by various taxi companies. For those interested, the PA provides a list of respective taxi companies as well.
